Eden by Marilyn Wells
24" x 30", oil and cold wax on wood panel, finished sides
Eden was inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem “Fireflies,” especially these lines:
Though Eden is lost
Its loveliness
remains in the heart
and the imagination

In Eden, layered passages of oil and cold wax suggest a remembered paradise — not as a literal garden, but as an inner landscape of longing, beauty, and luminous presence. Color, gesture, and atmosphere move across the surface like traces of something once known and still quietly alive within us.
This painting belongs to my continuing body of visionary work exploring diaphanous light, transparency, and the transformative journey of human consciousness. Forms emerge, dissolve, and reappear through layered surfaces, inviting the viewer to sense what may be hidden beneath ordinary sight.
Marilyn Wells, Ph.D., is an American visionary artist whose paintings explore the transformative journey of human consciousness and its awakening connection with the ever-present Origin.
Created in oil and cold wax on wood panel, Eden reflects my ongoing interest in emergence, memory, spirit, and the way beauty continues to live in the heart and imagination.
