“Cuthbert Grant Roses 3” Watercolor by Marilyn Wells

This watercolor was based on roses growing in my garden. The cultivar is from Canada and still growing as a delightful spring shrub and blooming prolifically.

After many years of teaching No Fear Watercolor, I am reinspired by the work of Georgia O’Keefe’s  (https://www.okeeffemuseum.org/store/products/books-media/georgia-okeeffe/georgia-okeeffe-watercolors-1916-1918/) early watercolor paintings.

Her loose and free-flowing watercolors feel at home side by side with my abstract sumi e or ink on paper paintings.

I find my inspiration from poetry also carries over into the new watercolors I am creating.
