About Angels

This painting was inspired by Mary Oliver’s poem “About Angels and About Trees,” especially these lines:

they rest, sometimes,
in the tops of the trees

and you can see them,
or almost see them…

In About Angels, layered passages of oil and cold wax suggest presences that are felt more than literally seen. Forms seem to rise, hover, and dissolve within fields of color and atmosphere, inviting the viewer into a space of subtle transparency and inner stillness.

The title points toward angelic presence not as sentiment, but as mystery — a hint of guidance, protection, and luminous being moving quietly through the visible world.

Created in oil and cold wax on wood panel, this painting reflects my ongoing interest in emergence, transparency, and the way meaning gradually reveals itself through layered surface, light, and atmosphere.
